原点

私の医師としての原点の一つには、祖父の存在があります。祖父は外科の開業医として地域医療に従事し、医師会会長やロータリークラブの会長を務めました。
その歩みを家族から聞く中で、医療は個々の患者だけでなく社会全体に関わる営みであるという認識を持つようになりました。
また、祖父の医院には代々の先祖の写真が飾られており、その中の一人に松岡康毅がいました。傍系の先祖にあたりますが、幼い頃からその存在に触れてきたこともあり、社会や制度の成り立ちに自然と関心を持つようになりました。
さらに、幼少期に海外で生活した経験から、異なる文化や価値観に触れ、物事を多角的に捉える視点を培ってきました。
これらの経験は、医療を社会的・歴史的、そして国際的な文脈の中で捉える現在の視点へとつながっています。
こうした関心は、生活習慣や代謝と密接に関わる疾患への興味へと発展し、管理栄養士としてのバックグラウンドも相まって、全身の代謝の中心である肝臓領域に強い関心を持つに至りました。
加えて、疾患の分子基盤に対する関心から、遺伝子異常や発がん機構に強い興味を持っており、臨床・社会的側面と基礎的理解を結びつけながら肝疾患を捉えていきたいと考えています。
今後は、臨床と研究の両面からこの分野に取り組み、肝疾患の理解と診療の発展に貢献していきたいと考えています。

My motivation to pursue a career in medicine is strongly influenced by my grandfather. He was a community-based surgeon who devoted himself to regional healthcare and served as president of the local medical association and a Rotary Club leader.
Learning about his contributions from my family led me to recognize that medicine extends beyond individual patient care and plays an essential role in society.
In my grandfather’s clinic, portraits of our ancestors were displayed, including Yasutake Matsuoka, a historical figure involved in Japan’s modernization. Although a collateral ancestor, being exposed to his presence from an early age fostered my interest in the development of social systems and institutions.
In addition, having spent part of my childhood abroad, I was exposed to diverse cultures and values, which helped me develop a multifaceted perspective.
These experiences have shaped my view of medicine as something that should be understood within social, historical, and global contexts.
This perspective led me to develop an interest in diseases related to lifestyle and metabolism. Combined with my background as a registered dietitian, it guided me toward hepatology, where the liver plays a central role in systemic metabolism.
Furthermore, I am particularly interested in the molecular basis of disease, especially genetic alterations and mechanisms of carcinogenesis. I aim to integrate these perspectives with clinical and societal viewpoints in understanding liver diseases.
In the future, I aim to engage in both clinical practice and research, contributing to a deeper understanding and improved management of liver diseases.
